Maggi & Colin

How is the parking at the venue?

It's very accommodating on the property and the Venue has an agreement with the elementary school across the street. Shouldn't be a problem on a Sunday.

Wait! This wedding is on a Sunday?

Yes. We got engaged and then went right back to work, then we worked some more, and then had some jobs. We decided not to wait anymore despite the relatively short planning period. Saturdays are all booked up. Sunday it is!

Are kids/children allowed at the wedding?

Of course! People considered minors are part of the wedding party. If you've got kids that want to be there they are welcome. Children should be accompanied at all times due to the close proximity of the lake and the woods. We will also have some provided activities and of course the dancing. Sorry that it's a school night.

Will there be quantifiable danger at the wedding?

Not exactly... Even though Colin will be the groom - pyrotechnics, sparklers, fireworks, flammable materials, glitter, rice, confetti, silly string, and bird food are not allowed. Neither will there be a silk flower petal tossing. The Venue has completely reasonable safety and environmental restrictions. And Larry the Duck, who actually lives on the property, doesn't need to get sick with anything like this. Alcohol will be served during a four hour window by a licensed bartender and smoking areas will be provided. Firearms are prohibited on the property.

What about inclement weather?

If we can't get married out on the green as proposed we can move the ceremony indoors to the chapel. The place can accommodate up to 160 human people and Norway, our cat. It will get tight though and the chairs to tables flip for the buffet style catering will have everyone shuffle around for a moment after the ceremony but we are manifesting fantastic weather!

Should I bring my animal?

If you have a service animal I'm not going to say no. Let me ask Maggi what she thinks.. She says yeah. We need to check with the venue again. But we aren't getting married without our cat Norway in attendance. Also, Larry the duck lives at The Venue. It's his world, we are just living in it.

Do you guys want gifts or money?

Wow! Who was the presumptuous goof who wanted this answer? Just kidding. Thing is, we're pretty stuffed with things between us. Excepting maybe an espresso machine since Colin immolated the one he got Maggi for Christmas, we'd really appreciate finances so we can have a nice holiday maybe out of the country. Also, we have plans to start a family and our cottage house is not really large enough so we're looking to get a house soon. Thank you all.

So it's an evening ceremony?

True. We plan to have the ceremony at 5pm, then get pictures done, then reception (verb?) with everyone. Feel free to snack and eat while Maggi and Colin are being photographed. Maggi isn't the type to make everyone wait for her. She's really quite accommodating.

What should we wear!?!?!?!

Well, it will be almost Halloween, so... No really, you can wear what makes you most comfortable. We don't know what Oklahoma will be like in late October but we suspect it will be nice, less humid, and not too windy. What do we know? You don't have to be formal, you don't have to wear flip-flops. The wedding party will be composed of ladies in autumnal colors and the men will be in black suits with white shirts and color pops that are in jewel tones.

Deejay and dancing? What kind of music?

Do you know us? Yeah, totally. There is a nice concrete pad by the lake, by the parking lot, and right south of the building where all of this can happen. If you look at a map of the Venue it's actually a filled in pool, the pool is still on Google map satellite view. The music will be a selection of wedding crowd pleasers with veto power by the bride and groom, but also a great selection of music they like. There might be cuss words, racy allusions, innuendos, suggestion of rated more than PG-13 content. Selective listening is advised.

What's the weird, giant black painted stone tower on the property?

That's actually a former oil derrick I believe. The property dates back to just after statehood so it was the original governor's mansion. Later it was a monetary and there was a bread bakery on the lot. The oil derrick is just there now. Don't expect any oil out of it.

Will there be videography?

Not professionally, no. you might be on camera in virtually any form. We'd even like to get a service set up for you to send us your content for our purposes if you so choose to record the wedding. We hope you have a great time documenting and meeting new people and sharing time with loved ones and family in attendance. Please remember to take pictures and videos of yourselves and others to remember it forever. Then please share them with Maggi and Colin. Please do not take the same pictures that our professional photographer is taking, it is stipulated in their contract.

Can we get in the lake?

NO. Don't do it.

Did I hear something about a duck?

YES! There is a medium-sized duck on the property who is quite friendly. His name is Larry. He scoped us out when we visited the first time and he's a treat. He ate a bug right in front of us. Heather (the on-site representative) has some duck food on hand if we want to feed him. Seriously. He might be okay with gentle handling, but you also might get nipped. We hear Larry likes to get involved, participate, and get into photographs. Be kind to him, be gentle, and accept his attention as we should to all living creatures great and small. Excepts wasps and brown recluse spiders.

I'm from out of town. Is there a block of hotel accommodations someplace?

Colin is working on that. More to come at a later time. Jeeze, I know there's only a few weeks. I'm working on it. OKAY!

What's Maggi's family like?

It's gigantic! There are so many thoughtful and wonderful people on Maggi's side and most of them live within Oklahoma. Her sister and brother-in-law have four amazing daughters from ten to seventeen and you won't be able to miss them. She has cousins from all over Oklahoma and even if they aren't all blood, everyone is friendly and family. Her parents and step-parents are super, pretty much retired, and we are all very close. Colin is happy to be joining this rich extended family.

What's Colin's family like?

Colin's family is mainly distant these days, but his brother and sister-in-law live in Stillwater. Colin's mom is in memory care. Colin has cousins in and out of the US with family in the St. Louis area, Las Vegas, North Carolina, and even in Europe, though his English side are no longer with us.

So what's all this film work I keep hearing about?

Colin and Maggi are both working commercial, television, and feature film professionals. Maggi is a costumer and Colin is a props master and a set dresser. They both do a variety of things on and off set because in the Oklahoma market they have to wear a lot of hats. They've worked on a lot of things you've heard of like Twisters, 1923, The Madison, Landman, American Underdog, and more. They met on the set of Reagan, the Ronald Reagan biopic, in 2020. They work together and separately on set and have an extensive list of acquaintances from work. You will probably meet some of their comrades from now and a long time ago.
